During June of 2010, the elders and staff of the South Plains Church of Christ began a time of prayer, fasting, and study as they sought how to live out God’s presence in this world. This process culminated in a vision for South Plains that was brought before the congregation during the fall of 2011.
One of the key changes was to align small groups with the overall vision for the congregation. The newly named small groups, 1 Groups, became the initial and primary vehicle driving implementation of the new vision. This new structure allowed for members of South Plains to better live out the call to be growing disciples. To help facilitate this transition, Rob Anderson was asked to oversee a newly formed One Groups Leadership and Equipping Team.
In February of 2012, Rob was then asked to join the ministry staff at South Plains as the 1 Groups Minister. Rob has been involved in small group ministry for over 20 years. He has served at several churches as a youth minster and as an associate minister, including overseeing small groups as Minister of Spiritual Formation at the Glenwood Church of Christ in Tyler, Texas. Rob also serves as an Adjunct Bible Instructor at Lubbock Christian University. Rob and his wife Jana have 2 children and have attended South Plains for the past 8 years.
This web site is one of the ways we inform and equip both the leaders of groups, as well as those interested in the 1 Group ministry. It is intended to encourage discussion and reflection among those interested in improving the way we serve through small groups. Feel free to take a look around, to offer some feedback, and if you like, to come be a part of a 1 Group.
You may contact the 1 Groups Ministry via email or follow us on Twitter.
Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day.
